"Kronos" is an hourglass that plays with human interaction and manipulation of time. It is separated into two glass volumes, joined with an engineered connector piece made from brass, which constitutes as an adjustable iris.
The iris allows the user to control the speed of the sand, enlarging and reducing the size of the hole through which the sand falls. It leaves one with the question of what is time and how do we perceive it?
"There are two ways how we perceive time: measurable time, shaped by our spatial thinking, and pure duration, which can neither be expressed in numbers nor defined in language. Our superficial self perceives time as a sequence, whereas our inner self experiences them as a continuous flow. It is through this that free action becomes possible."
- Henri Bergson
